Useful
tips before purchasing a pool table
When
planning to put a pool table in a room, it is important
to make sure there is enough room to play your
shot around every part of the table allowing for
your cueing, especially when the cue ball is on
the cushion. Depending on what size table you plan
on buying you should measure the room accordingly.
If the room has an odd shape, it could be useful
to purchase a couple of short cues for the occasionally
awkward shot. Also the floor should be as level
as possible so the balls can run true as possible
on the bed of the table.
pool
table care
A
new pool table cloth can often slow the ball roll
down. If the new cloth is heavy (depending on how
much wool is in the cloth) by frequently brushing
the pool table cloth can help break in the new cloth
and speed up the ball roll. Even when the cloth has
broken in, it is good practise to brush the table
and keep in good running condition. There are two
types of cloth, directional and non-directional.
You should brush the table towards the racking end
if it is non-directional cloth. The table should
be covered when it's not in use, to protect the cloth
from dust. The wooden rails and legs can be dusted
with a clean cloth. You should never sit on the side
rails or you could damage the seal between the rail
and the cushion and this would be expensive to repair.
pool
cue care
Pool
cues are prone to warping if not looked after properly,
when not being used they should be stored in a
rack or cuecase. You should not lean your cue against
a wall or near a heat source as this can cause
warping. When travelling, Always try to transport
your cue in a cuecase for protection. Pool cues
can sometimes pick up moisture and can cause stickiness
when cueing, To help this problem try using a damp
cloth along the cue.
